One of the top cosmetic complaints we hear from our valued patients is the presence of black gaps or 'black triangles' between their teeth. This happens because the gum tissue has receded between the teeth, leaving what used to be gum-filled space now an unsightly empty space. Besides being a cosmetic concern, these gaps can also cause food trapping between the teeth leading to further gum problems or dental decay.

You may be more prone to this condition if you have triangular-shaped teeth (vs square-shaped teeth) and if you have underlying gum disease.
