Whether you’re in customer service or behind a desk, part of a large company or an entrepreneur, putting your best face forward in business is important. We’re pleased to tell you that a great smile can come from a discreet orthodontic appliance: Invisalign.
Invisalign has wildly grown in popularity since it was founded as a company in 1997. Since then, more people who couldn’t imagine themselves spending 1-3 years living with braces have embraced Invisalign technology for all, or at least part, of their treatment. Its popularity comes from its nearly invisible nature. Invisalign retainers are clear and removable and gradually change the alignment of your teeth, just like classic metal braces.
Like metal braces, Invisalign shifts your teeth with very small amounts of tension applied to the direction of your teeth’s corrected position. With metal braces, this means the wire which connects your brackets is a particular shape for alignment. With Invisalign, you wear a variety of clear plastic retainers over the course of your treatment. Each one is marginally tighter to gradually improve your smile over the course of your treatment.
We’ve given you plenty of reasons why Invisalign is an effective but discreet option for smile correction. What we have yet to mention are the benefits to your health that proper dental alignment does. When you bite down, your teeth should all align one on top of each other. A lower set too far back is sometimes diagnosed as a “sunken jaw”; a top set too far forward is sometimes called an “overbite”. Improper alignment can cause jaw tension and pain, which is multiplied by our own muscle tension when we get stressed. In severe cases of TMG, one could wake up with headaches or stiffness around the jaw.
